Cold Turkey

Image
If you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media, checking your favorite blog, or enjoying a video game instead of working or being productive in general – you’ve fallen into a trap of procrastination - and it happens to the best of us. With the Cold Turkey web filter , you can block all those distracting websites, games, and applications and reclaim control of your time. The official site states that Cold Turkey has “a dose of discipline built-in” and it’s a higher dose than we expected to find.  Cold Turkey is truly a hardcore site/URL blocking app that doesn’t only stop all distractions but also shuts off apps and even the entire internet. Once you set the timer, there is no turning back – you can get back to your work or stare blankly at the empty screen.  This makes Cold Turkey seem quite strict in comparison to most web filters in the market. However, this only scratches the surface of Cold Turkey’s many features and functionalities – we’ll go into deep...

MSI Modern AM242TP 11M

MSI Modern AM242TP 11M: Two-Minute Review If you’re not an architect or an in-demand graphic designer, then justifying the latest Surface Studio from Microsoft might be a stretch, but not every all-in-one has to break the bank. These sleek, clutter-free computers can be really affordable and make a lot of sense for a whole range of workflows.  Take the Modern AM242TP (AM242P in AU) from MSI for example. This unit comes with an 11th-Gen Intel i5 or i7 CPU with a 23.8-inch Full HD IPS display, a 2TB HDD and 16GB of RAM. The entry model also gets a 256GB SSD while the i7 model has a slightly bigger internal SSD at 512GB. While this unit is much more approachable than something like the Surface Studio 2 it is actually a lot more expensive in some regions than its sibling, the MSI modern AM271P . The Modern AM242TP is more sleek than its better-value sibling, however, since it has an integrated HD webcam and all the units come with a simple wireless keyboard and mouse that mos...

NuraTrue Pro

Image
One-minute review Aussie company Nura is back with a new product, bringing its unique brand of personalized audio to yet another pair of true wireless earbuds. As its name suggests, this model is a ‘pro’ version of the NuraTrue , offering a raft of improvements over the older five-star buds and, with it, a premium price tag. Taking several design cues from the original NuraTrue, the Pro model adds a few refinements such as a ceramic material for the trim and logos on the case and buds. Most of the advancements, however, are on the technical front. Wireless charging has been added to the case, and it’ll top up its charge via cable twice as fast as its more affordable sibling. The number of microphones has increased to make for improved noise-cancellation (which now automatically adapts to your environment), and includes a bone conduction sensor for clearer phone calls. On the audio front, a new spatial mode has been implemented as well as the ability to fine-tune the personalized a...

Diablo Immortal review

Image
Review information Time Played: 15 hours Platform: Android The legions of hell are endless, constantly streaming through the breach in search of fresh blood to drag back to their overlord. Hanging their new captures upside-down, these fiends will slowly drain their victims of everything over long hours and agonizing days. Then, once nothing is left, the poor doomed souls will be discarded, as they – or more exactly, their wallets – will have nothing more to give. Diablo Immortal has a lot of demons, too, but they’re kind of the lesser "prime evil" in the latest entry for the series. For the first time since Sierra batted cleanup on the Diablo: Hellfire expansion back in 1997, Blizzard has let someone else take a significant role in creating a Diablo game. Developed in tandem by both Blizzard and NetEase, Diablo Immortal shows flashes of the experience the former has with the action-RPG series, and the latter with mobile platforms. But layered over those positive co...

Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro

Image
Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro: Two-Minute Review Following up from the successful Galaxy Book Pro, Samsung has released a pair of new productivity laptops; the hybrid laptop-tablet Galaxy Book2 Pro 360, and the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro. We’ve got our grubby mitts on the latter for a review, and here’s a shocking revelation for you: it’s just like the first one, only better. The Galaxy Book2 Pro starts at $1,050 in the States (£999, around AU$1,525), though that’s for the 13-inch model; the 15-inch version we’re reviewing here will run your $100 more for the base model. The 5G variant we were sent appears to be currently only available in the UK for £1,249 and up. 5G or not, this is clearly an impressive product. The original Samsung Galaxy Book Pro was a sleek and powerful laptop targeting the busy professional, with an undeniably premium price tag but performance and design quality to match. This sequel is no different, and it actually feels like Samsung wanted to change as little as ...

OnePlus Nord Buds wireless earbuds

Image
OnePlus Nord Buds: Two-minute review The OnePlus Nord Buds are keeping the value tradition of OnePlus alive, but now in the true wireless earbuds market. They may not have much in the way of flair or snazzy features, but they deliver on the basics really well.  With sizeable drivers for earbuds and a Bluetooth 5.2 connection, the Nord Buds do their main job nicely: delivering clear audio. They get a surprisingly heavy bass and rarely muddle the audio. In some music, the soundstage even feels fairly wide, considering the price. Busy music can feel a bit crowded, but overall the listening experience is exceptional for such a cheap pair of wireless buds. Even the incoming audio through the mics is good — not broadcast quality, but clear and devoid of background noise.  OnePlus hinges almost all of the aesthetics of the buds on shiny, concave dishes on each bud, giving them a fun little mirror for visual intrigue. It’s not much, but it keeps them from looking boring. Otherwis...

Cuisinart Grind & Brew Auto Coffee Maker review

Image
One-minute review Cuisinart may be a brand that’s synonymous with food processors, and indeed that’s the appliance that launched the familiar household name. However, since debuting in the 1970s, the brand has expanded its range significantly, now offering kitchen appliances, cookware, and gadgets including some of the best coffee makers . JUMP TO Price and availability Design Performance Should I buy the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Auto coffee maker? In the US, Cuisinart offers a huge range of coffee makers, but in other countries the selection is smaller. The Grind & Brew Auto Coffee Maker DGB-650BC is available in both the US and the UK, with its built-in bean grinder making it one of the more premium filter coffee makers available from the brand. Its ability to grind whole coffee beans, coupled with a thermal carafe with an ample 10 cup capacity, means this coffee maker promises more than your average model. But it isn’t just for whole coffee beans; the grinder can ...
