iPhone 13 Pro review

Image
Two-minute review The iPhone 13 Pro isn’t Apple’s top-end handset right now, but it offers a fantastic all-round experience, with some of the best battery life we’ve ever seen in an iPhone, and some of the best performance we’ve ever seen on any phone full stop, which, along with a smattering of small upgrades, makes it an altogether exemplary smartphone. The iPhone 13 Pro Max may be the option for anyone looking for the best of the best from Apple, but a lot of what makes that smartphone great is also available here, for a slightly cheaper price of $999 / £949 / AU$1,699. If you already have an iPhone, it’s likely the iPhone 13 Pro will be a big upgrade – unless you currently own last year’s iPhone 12 Pro or Pro Max – with improvements to almost every feature. One exception is the design, which remains similar to that of the iPhone 12 Pro. There’s a matte finish on the rea...

iPad mini (2021)

Image
Two-minute review The defining feature of the iPad mini (2021) is its small stature, and like the iPhone 13 mini this is a device that marries a scaled-down design that will be popular with many users with top-end specs and power. Think of it like an iPad Air 4 , but shrunk down and with a more powerful chipset inside. It inherits a similar design to the iPad Air 4, with square edges, no home button and a USB-C port on the bottom edge. Apple calls this an “all-screen design”, but we’d argue that the thicker bezels mean that’s a rather bold claim. That said, this iPad mini is easier to hold because of these bezels, so they’re not necessarily a negative. You’ve got the choice ...

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Image
Two-minute review The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is a sequel to one of our favorite smartwatches ever, and it’s the first time in a while that we’ve seen the company embrace Wear OS software. It’s not your typical Wear OS watch though; it’s called One UI Watch 3, and it’s been built by Samsung with Google’s help. On paper, the overall upgrade is limited, but the Watch 4 is suitable for anyone who’s looking for a top-end smartwatch that can track workouts, as well as offer a lot of other smart features that many alternative wrist companions can't. That said, the Galaxy Watch 4’s compatibility isn’t as varied as previous Samsung watches. If you own an iPhone , this won’t work with it, and while it’s compatible with all modern Android phones except for Huawei, you’ll need to own a Samsung smartphone to access some features, such as blood pressure or ECG mea...
