Enabot Ebo SE pet robot review: the catsitter I didn’t know I needed but can’t live without

Image
Two-minute review Being a cat owner is a joy like no other, but I miss my cat so, so much when I’m away even just for a day. That's why the Enabot Ebo SE pet robot is a literal must-have in my cat-crazy household.  This small and sweet little robot doesn’t have an adorable little ‘face’ like the Enabot Ebo X , but operates similarly, offering features like mobile phone compatibility and the ability to take photos and videos.  It’s also not as stuffed with features as the Enabot Ebo X, which has built-in Alexa smart home functions and a 4K UHD camera, however, if you’re looking for a simple and much cheaper robot, the Enabot Ebo SE robot reigns supreme. This little orb is simple to set up right out of the box and is completely managed through the app.  It's not quite got the chops to be one of the best home security cameras , but certainly gives peace of mind if you quickly want to check in at home. My testing of the Enabot Ebo SE coincided with my holiday, which was a...

Acer Chromebook Spin 314 (2023) review: the laptop I wish I'd had as a student

Image
Acer Chromebook Spin 314 (2023): One-minute review The single best thing about the Acer Chromebook Spin 314 is how easy it is to take around with you, no matter where you’re off to or what carrier bag you’ve got this laptop will become your most helpful travel companion. I was pleasantly surprised when I first received our review unit of the laptop and was able to slip it into my little tote bag, with room to spare for both the charger and my current paperback of choice.  In terms of design, for what the Chromebook is offering in terms of simplicity and portability I think it looks like the perfect productive machine. No fancy aesthetics or unnecessary frilly, this is likely my favorite Chromebook design so far, and as a long-time Macbook girl that claim carries a lot of weight coming from me. The Acer Chromebook Spin 314 could be the best laptop for you if all you want is something to work on, maybe watch a few shows, and put away until the next day.  I worked with this ...

Acer Chromebook Vero 514 review: pulled me to the Chromebook side

Image
Acer Chromebook Vero 514 : Two-minute review As someone who is firmly rooted in the Apple ecosystem, I found the Acer Chromebook Vero 514 a joy to use - once I got the hang of it. It might be slightly more expensive than some of the more popular Chromebooks out there (like the Acer Chromebook 314 ), but considering how much time and effort has clearly gone into making this a sustainable and eco-friendly laptop, the pricing can be easily overlooked. Fans of Google and Chrome OS will naturally adore the simple layout and intuitive Everything Button, Chromebooks' answer to the age-old problem of ‘I want to Google something, but I can’t be bothered to open a whole new tab’. Have a random urge to see what your favorite celeb is up to? A writer trying to remember what a polysyndeton is? Can’t remember where you saved that one file you’ve probably already downloaded twelve times? The Everything Button has you covered. In all honesty, this is probably one of the best Chromebooks I’ve...

Gigabyte G5 Review: A great gaming laptop for gamers on the go

Image
Gigabyte G5: Two-minute review Gigabyte has a solid track record in putting out pretty outstanding gaming laptops that deliver good performance for the asking price. They’re durable and simplistically designed, and despite being a little loud or a little heavy, they’re usually worth top marks - like the Gigabyte Aorus 17 , which racked up a respectable 4 stars. Even in their non-gaming laptops they usually pack a powerful punch, like the 2021 Aero 17 model, which hit home with 5 stars and an abundance of praise for being the creative professional's dream. So, naturally, we had very high expectations for the Gigabyte G5. This expectation was, predictably, met and at times surpassed by the Gigabyte G5 and we couldn’t reasonably ask for more from a gaming laptop with a sensible price tag like this one. After spending some time with this laptop we can definitely see it hanging with the best gaming laptops and holding its own.   The model we tested had an Intel Core i5-10500H CPU ...

Google Bard

Image
Google Bard is here, and we've managed to get early access to the search giant's AI-powered chatbot. While Microsoft was getting everyone finally excited about its Bing search engine by adding ChatGPT , Google has been working on its own. Despite a less than impressive debut , where it returned an incorrect answer to a question, there's a lot of excitement about how Google has approached its own chatbot. Could this be a revolution in how we search? Read on for our hands-on impression. Design (Image credit: Google) Off the bat, the user interface (UI) of Google Bard surpasses ChatGPT’s dark and dreary layout. The UI is bright and carries the familiar Google motif we’ve grown accustomed to and everything feels familiar despite the fact you’re interacting with a completely new product.  The layout is clean and you are met with a bunch of new features, like the option to speak to Google Bard and the ability to see all the different drafts Bard had before coming up ...

Razer Naga V2 Pro Gaming Mouse review: chopping and changing

Image
Razer Naga V2 Pro: One-minute review The Naga V2 Pro is a clear step above its predecessor, the Naga Pro Wireless, and while it still holds up in a lot of key factors we were hoping to see some sort of design change. The mouse features swappable side plates that hold 2, 6, and 12 programmable buttons and features wireless connectivity via a dongle.  The mouse features RGB lighting in a subtle, classy way which is very much appreciated when everything comes packed with a lot of light. The logo lights up once it’s on and you can customize the logo and 12-button plate in the Synapse 3 software.  The ergonomic design of the mouse may suit some users more than others,  with the mouse seeming to favor those with larger hands than smaller ones. The price definitely reflects the features of the mouse, though with how similar this and the Naga Pro Wireless are you might be better off sticking with the older model.  (Image credit: Future) Razer Naga V2 Pro: Price ...

Kemove Angel K68 Mechanical Keyboard

Image
One-minute review There is no better way to up productivity than the satisfying little click-clack of your keyboard going off as you zoom through ideas. For example, this review is being typed up on the Kemove K68 keyboard and the little not-too-loud, not-too-soft taps are super motivating. The keyboard has been through a lot: floor changes in the office, being stuffed into my bag with no second thought, and several various impractical nail lengths on my typing fingertips, but it has triumphed through those adversities (and more) to become my new favorite keyboard. This is the ideal keyboard for writers looking for versatility, as well as those of us that enjoy an aesthetically-pleasing desk setup. The wireless mechanical keyboard comes with low-profile keycaps, hot-swappable keys, and RGB lighting. The K68 is a multitasking machine and has solidified its place on my desk with how easy it is to swap between devices, so I can hop between my PC, my laptop, and my phone with no fuss. ...

Logitech Lift Mouse

Image
Logitech Lift Mouse: One minute review  Logitech Lift Mouse: One minute review The Logitech Lift mouse is an ergonomic mouse designed to fit seamlessly into your Apple setup. And it’s got a charming seashell-esque look, which I quite like.  Many ergonomic mice can look really intimidating and even a bit bewildering, but with the Logitech Lift I faced my fears of odd-looking mice and came out wondering why I had never tried one out before.  Obviously one of the first worries is how exactly are you supposed to hold this thing if you’re a novice like me, but from first touch it’s very easy to adjust and you almost forget the slightly different grip.  The simplicity of the design aids in the adjustment. The Logitech Lift mouse has six buttons available for customization. Out of the box are the usual left and right click, back and forward buttons on the left of the mouse, and a middle click button. The mouse is best suited to small to medium hands, which does impact ...
