Beurer Wake Up Light WL50

Image
One-minute review The Beurer Wake Up Light WL50 is designed to gently rouse you in a simulated sunrise, and definitely helped make our experience of jumping out of bed a lot easier. If you find it difficult to wake up, we're pretty confident it will help even the groggiest of sleepers feel more alert. Wake-up lights mimic the sunrise, gradually growing brighter until it’s time to wake up and the WL50 offers a time limit of how long a period you want this to happen. You can choose from a duration of either 10, 20 or 30 minutes, and if you want to wake up at a certain time you can program it to start warming up before your alarm goes off.  On the subject of alarms, the wake up light has three sounds to choose from: a melody with bird calls, a series of chimes, or a set of beeps. Alternatively, you can choose to wake to an FM radio station, though (as with the Lumie Bodyclock Active 250 ) there's no DAB radio, and the reception wasn't great. You can also use the light to...

Homedics Deep Sleep Mini

Image
One-minute review For people struggling with insomnia, the easier a sleep product is to use, the better. The Homedics Deep Sleep Mini ticks all the right boxes, using gentle sounds to help you drift off to sleep, with no complicated instructions required. Although the product doesn’t look very complex (in fact, it looks very much like a compact smart speaker), it's well designed and very effective.  There are three noise tones to choose from (white, pink and brown), plus rain and storm nature sounds. There's also a guided meditation program created by an expert, which is paired with relaxation sounds to help you clear your mind. All are very pleasant, and genuinely helped us achieve a more restful night's sleep. We also found the white noise loud enough to block out the sound of a snoring partner, and the rain option had a very calming effect if we were disturbed in the night. There's also no need to get up and turn the machine off, as there's an adjustable aut...

Apex Bike

Image
Two-minute review Indoor biking at home has never been more popular, and the Apex Bike offers an excellent middle-of-the-range product when it comes to pricing. Apex has designed a bold and aesthetically pleasing bike that does not stick out like a sore thumb if used in a home living space. The riding experience is extremely smooth and straightforward once you've adjusted the handlebars and saddle. You also have the option of either attaching spinning shoes to the pedals, or using ordinary running shoes that easily slide into the buckle strap. What the bike lacks is an interactive screen so before you begin you need to download the Apex Rides app onto your phone or tablet to access the rides. The classes – delivered by Boom Cycle – are excellent. If, like us, you find the over-enthusiastic Peloton trainers grating on the nerves, you’ll find the Apex ones a lot more enjoyable. In fact, the broad range of energetic and fun teachers is very refreshing, as are the classes, which ...
