Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020)

Image
Two-minute review When the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) launched, it signalled a new era for Apple. That’s thanks to the fact that, along with the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) and Mac mini (M1, 2020) which released at the same time, it came with Apple’s own SoC, the M1 chip , instead of an Intel CPU. Apple has managed to reinvigorate its laptops with its first significant improvement in a long time as well as remind everyone why its devices are so highly regarded. Though the M1 chip is a huge upgrade, the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) is otherwise almost completely unchanged from the early 2020 model . And, while there are no other updates, that processor is still an impressive leap in performance. It’s not only three times speedier than equivalent Windows laptops, but is 2.8 times quicker than the Pro model it replaced. On top of that, it comes with a longer battery life. The M1-powered MacBook Pro 13-inch is even more compelling now that Apple has released the 14-inch and 16-inc...

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020)

Two-minute review Voted Best Laptop for Creatives at the TechRadar Choice Awards 2021 The release of the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) was the beginning of a new chapter in Apple’s pro line. Launched alongside the Mac mini (M1, 2020) and the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) , both of which are also M1 chip -powered, this laptop is the very first MacBook Pro to showcase the power of Apple’s own SoC. And, it has not only reinvigorated Apple’s line of laptops with the first big upgrade in years, but also reaffirmed Apple’s reputation as the best in the business. As big of an upgrade as the M1 chip is, it’s the only significant upgrade on the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020), which largely sticks to the early 2020 model ’s design. In fact, everything else is essentially the same. Still, that processor is a pretty compelling reason to make the jump since it’s 2.8 times faster than its predecessor, is three times faster than comparable Windows portables, and it has longer battery life.  The...

Apple Mac mini (M1, 2020)

Two-minute review The Mac mini (M1, 2020) has been out for a year now with an update expected sometime early next year. So, though finding a sale on Apple products during a shopping holiday is usually a bit tough, this diminutive computer is a prime candidate this Black Friday and Cyber Monday . In fact, some retailers have already started slashing prices on Apple’s most affordable computer. If any Apple product needed an update, it was its smallest desktop computer. And, with the Mac mini (M1, 2020), the company not only did that but set the bar high for future iterations, especially considering Apple’s claims that its CPU performance is three times faster and GPU performance six times faster than the previous Mini. What makes this update so special is the introduction of Apple’s in-house M1 system on a chip (SoC) which not only debuted with the Mini but with the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) and MacBook Air (M1, 2020) notebooks. This Mac mini might be just as slim as its p...

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020)

Two-minute review Voted Best Laptop for Creatives at the TechRadar Choice Awards 2021 While Apple doesn’t often cut the price of its products by huge amounts, the MacBook Pro 13-Inch (M1, 2020) has been out for a year now. And, with the newer 14-inch and 16-inch models out there, this smaller model might just see a bit of a discount this Black Friday and Cyber Monday , especially because it’s now poised to be the only Pro model for mainstream users.  When Apple released the MacBook Pro 13-inch (M1, 2020) alongside the Mac mini (M1, 2020) and the MacBook Air (M1, 2020) , it changed the game yet again. Instead of continuing with the Intel processors the company had used for so long, it turned to its very own M1 chip . And, while we’ve seen a few even more powerful laptops since in the 14 and 16-inch Pro models, this initial offering has not only reinvigorated Apple’s line of laptops with the first big upgrade in years, but has reaffirmed Apple’s reputation as the best in th...

Apple MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

Two-minute review Apple isn’t what you would call generous with its deals even on Black Friday and Cyber Monday . However, we do expect to see some excellent deals on the Apple MacBook Air (M1, 2020), especially with the biggest retailers trying to sell their stock in anticipation of the rumoured Apple MacBook Air 2022. The Apple MacBook Air (M1, 2020) hasn’t received any updates in 2021, though you will be able to upgrade to the new macOS Monterey for free with your purchase. With the MacBook Air (M1, 2020), Apple has given its thinnest and slimmest a giant leap forward in performance. The 2020 Air comes with the Apple M1 processor, the manufacturer’s highly-acclaimed, impressively powerful ARM-based chip, under its hood, giving it just the right boost it’s long deserved. Alongside the macOS 11 Big Sur it comes pre-loaded during its release – any MacBook Air M1 you purchase now should either come with the new macOS Monterey or have a free upgrade to it, it has become among...
