Honor Router 3

Image
Before we get to this router, we need to mention that recently the Honor brand, previously Huawei’s budget brand, is no longer part of that Chinese-owned company. The segmentation of this company was intended to provide a means to handle issues that Huawei was having with American sanctions, and it also allows Honor to get the Android Google Play store back on its phones, among other services that Huawei branded devices had been denied. The product we’re reviewing today was designed when Huawei and Honor were one business, and it continues to be sold under both brand names now that they’ve separated. Our review hardware is the Honor Router 3, even if it can be found with Huawei branding and a different name in some regions. Do you love fast wireless routers but hate what they often cost? Then you might have come to the right place as we investigate the implausibly cheap Honor Router 3. Availability and pricing Buckle up! Because the price of this device might result in unexpecte...

StarVPN

Image
StarVPN (not to be confused with Star VPN) is a VPN provider that offers its consumer and business customers access to over 10 million real residential IP addresses all over the world, along with a few extra options to give you control and flexibility. Interestingly, it seems to be operated by the same people as Star VPN , as our email queries were answered by same person (or at least someone with the same name). Unless this is some weird coincidence, these are two closely related VPN solutions. Price In addition to providing flexibility in its usage, this VPN also offers pricing flexibility. Users who only require a VPN on occasion can use it for free without any throttling, as long as they’re fine with 1GB daily usage and 500 IP updates per month. At $8/month, you can get unlimited data usage and 500 IP updates per month. You’ll be able to run the VPN connection on up to 3 devices at the same time. While this price only gets you one VPN slot, you can purchase more; 3 slots at ...

Intel Core i9-11900K

Image
Two-minute review The Intel Core i9-11900K comes as Intel struggles to hold on to relevance in the desktop market. As heavyweight processors like the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X have claimed not only the multi-core crown, but also the single-core crown, Intel has a huge fight on its hands.  But with rumors that Intel’s 12th-generation Alder Lake-S processors could arrive as soon as September 2021 , its 11th-generation lineup, including the Core i9-11900K, feels more like a stopgap than something to get really excited about.  That is even evident in the tech behind this processor. Intel backported the 10nm Ice Lake architecture to a 14nm process for the Intel Core i9-11900K, which is the core reason why it’s back down to an 8-core, 16-thread design. This makes its place in the CPU market really odd, because while it does mean that the processor has extremely strong single-core performance, it falls so far behind in multi-core that it's definitely not worth the sticker price for any...

Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) review

Image
Two-minute review The Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) is the tech giant’s latest smart display, and like the previous version, which was called the Google Home Hub before the name was changed to Google Nest Hub, it’s billed by Google as the perfect bedside smart display. While that claim was a bit of a stretch in the case of the original model (it was based in part on Google’s Hub not having a camera), Google may feel it’s got a stronger case this time around, because unlike any other smart display on the market, the new Google Nest Hub can track your sleep. JUMP TO Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) price and availability Design Performance Music and video Google Assistant smarts Should I buy? This smart display is the first from Google to feature Soli radar technology, which has already been used in the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphone, and which enables you to wave and ‘tap’ the air in front of the smartphone to activate certain controls such as playing or p...

Logitech G Pro X Superlight

Image
30 second review Competitive PC gamers are always trying to get the best hardware that money can buy, and a good gaming mouse is certainly one of the key components to focus on. The Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse is probably the lightest mouse we’ve ever tested, and it’s an absolute joy to use. The lightness comes with a few sacrifices – there’s no swanky RGB lighting, the body feels a bit smaller in your hand, and there’s no dedicated button for switching DPI levels. For some, these will be a worthy omission in favor of keeping the mouse as light as possible, but for others it might lead to other choices in Logitech’s gaming lineup. Price and availability The Logitech G Pro X Superlight Wireless Gaming Mouse is available now, and is priced at $149.99 (around £106; AU$190). Design There’s no denying that the G Pro X Superlight is a truly minimalist gaming mouse from Logitech. There are no bold curves or fancy RGB lighting here. Instead, you get a clean mouse i...
