Diesel On Full Guard 2.5

Image
The Diesel On Full Guard didn't light up the wearable world, so the company is giving it a second attempt by packing lots of new features into its second generation watch. It's called the Diesel On Full Guard 2.5 and while the name may suggest this is a stepping stone between two product generations, this is in fact only the second watch from the company. We've yet to learn why it has that '2.5' name, but this new upgrade includes all of the tech we've seen in the range of smartwatches made by Fossil (who makes Diesel Wear OS products) so you'll get some serious upgrades here. Diesel On Full Guard 2.5 price and release date The watch will be ready to buy in October this year, and we're hoping it'll be up for grabs in a selection of markets all around the world. Pricing is still unclear, but we'd expect it to be a similar level to the original Full Guard watch that cost $325 / £329 (around AU$435). Design and display Before you know anyth...

Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630

Image
The Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630 has been launched at IFA 2018 , boasting a large, 15.6-inch 4K display, a screen that folds into a tablet and a premium metal body. This is a premium Chromebook, and one that's unlikely to be given to too many college students. Rather, the Yoga Chromebook is aimed more at business professionals looking for a laptop with decent battery life for emails, web browsing, text editing, presentations and the occasional bit of video streaming. Lenovo Yoga Chromebook release date and price The Lenovo Yoga Chromebook release date is set for the end of October in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. We're yet to hear what availability will be in the US and Australia. The Lenovo Yoga Chromebook price starts at €799 (around $940, £720, AU$), which will get you the full HD display and a lesser chipset under the hood - and it's not clear yet what the top end price will be for the 4K screen and most powerful i5 processor. Lenovo Yoga Book C930

Image
Lenovo’s Yoga Book was one of our favorite mobile computing devices of the last few years for its originality, charm and attempt to do something different, but it was marred by poor processing power. Now, Lenovo’s sequel, the Yoga Book C930, addresses that and every other flaw, presenting a promising return at IFA 2018 to a product line widely thought had been an experiment. However, to get to this point, Lenovo had to entirely reposition the Yoga Book toward a different audience than before. To deliver the experience that Lenovo sought to achieve with the previous model, the product had to be more expensive. And, boy, is it pricier: to the tune of $450 (about £340, AU$600) more than before. No longer is the Yoga Book looking to introduce the mainstream to a new way of computing, but instead it is aimed at the high-end crowd looking for something even more versatile than what’s already out there. But, can this strategy survive against competitors that are delivering quality, focus...

Lenovo Yoga C930

Image
Lenovo has enjoyed a generally positive public image of its 2-in-1 laptops for years, namely since debuting the watchband hinge design on its Yoga 900 series of laptops. However, Lenovo knows not to sit on its laurels, hence a rather radically redesigned model for 2018. Debuted during the IFA 2018 tech show in Berlin, Germany, this is the Lenovo Yoga C930. It’s got a new ‘C’ ahead of its numbering, standing for ‘convertible’, but that’s the smallest change here. Not only has Lenovo dropped the watchband entirely in favor of a clever new speaker hinge, the firm has tucked a stylus into the laptop base as well introduced a new webcam privacy shutter. This is Lenovo’s flagship positioning itself as a tastemaker once again, and it stands the chance to be just that when it launches later this year. Price and availability Lenovo is pricing the Yoga C930 at $1,399 (about £1,000, AU$1,900) to start when it launches in the US this October. That price gets you an 8th-generation Intel Core...

Silicon Power Bolt B75 480GB

Image
When it comes to external drives, solid-state or flash has historically carried such a big premium over traditional spinning hard drives that to buy one – especially a high capacity model – was really only a consideration for the wealthier tech addicts out there. However, the relentless march of technological evolution means that we now have access to even cheaper SSDs from the main players on the market, with prices likely to dive even further later this year (watch out for November’s Black Friday 2019 by the way). Silicon Power, which sent us the nimble B10 SSD and the rugged A85 HDD recently, has provided a brand new model to evaluate, the B75 – a military-grade shockproof SSD in an aluminum case (which makes it an external SSD). Four SKUs are available and retail for anywhere between £25 ($32) for the 120GB model to just over £285 ($370) for the 960GB model. The one we’re reviewing is the 480GB model which retails for £135 ($175), and as you may have noticed, this means that...

Sony Fes Watch U

Image
Sony has been showing off its e-Paper concept devices for a long time, but this new smartwatch from the company marks the first time one will be available to buy in real life. The Sony Fes Watch U is a unique device in that it allows the display to carry around the watch face down onto the strap itself. It does this as the whole screen wraps almost the whole way round the strap using e-Paper technology. That's a similar tech to what you see in Amazon's range of Kindle devices, and it allows a variety of different designs to be constantly on display around your wrist without an extraordinarily short battery life. Be warned - this isn't a typical smartwatch like the Apple Watch or a Wear OS device. Instead it's a fashionable piece of tech that's doing something a bit different, but different may be what some are looking for in 2018. Sony Fes Watch U price and release date You'll be able to buy the Fes Watch U in mid-September this year if you live in Europe....

Marshall Kilburn II

Image
Marshall is known for its legendary guitar amps, but its foray into the world of speakers and headphones has seen its products migrate from the stage into our homes. Now, updating its bestselling Kilburn speaker , Marshall has released the Kilburn II, adding new features and functions and making it more roadworthy.  Design Like its predecessor, the design of the Kilburn II is inspired by Marshall's rock heritage, although this time the company has taken inspiration from the microphone for the speaker's silver mesh grille.  Adorning this is the iconic Marshall logo in white, which is a nice touch if you want to flaunt your rock credentials to your friends, although if you're not fan of overt branding you may prefer a more subtle design. Amp-inspired dials on the top of the speaker are another nice touch, with nifty bass and treble controls adding to the rock'n'roll feel. The controls are pared back compared to the original Kilburn, with Marshall doing away with ...

Toshiba Alexa-enabled OLED TV

Image
Talking to your TV certainly feels novel, and the announcement at Berlin's IFA conference that Toshiba is adding Amazon’s Alexa into their OLED, 4K HDR, and Full HD TV ranges absolutely plays into Toshiba’s goal to make the TV the entertainment center of the home once more. Price and availability From 2019, Toshiba's range of OLED, 4K HDR, and Full HD TVs will have Amazon Alexa built-in. With access to Amazon’s voice-activated assistant, the range will be able to deliver a wide range of features, some unique to the Smart TV, but also as part of Alexa’s wider skillset. As of yet, Toshiba hasn’t divulged an official release date for Alexa integration, but the technology will be available from 2019 across most of its OLED, 4K HDR and Full HD ranges. Currently, Toshiba’s 65” OLED 4KHD TV retails for around $3900 (£3000 / AU$5300), while its 65” LED TV is considerably cheaper at around $900 (£700 / AU$1250) - you’ll have to wait until at least January if you want to experienc...

Philips OLED+ 903

Image
When Philips announced its OLED 803 television back in February, it marked a notable turn away from it high-end LCD range to the promise of OLED’s superior displays. With release only a few weeks away, Philips has announced an additional sibling for their expanding OLED series out in October, this time with a stress on the sound quality: the OLED+ 903. Visuals are naturally the main concern of any prospective TV buyer, though the pursuit of ever more pixels, enhanced contrast ratios and widened color gamuts often means the audio performance of a television set is somewhat sidelined. And while there are plenty of speaker systems available, there’s an appeal to a high-quality television with audio to match right out of the box. Philips OLED+ 903 is a TV built for audiophiles OLED still ain't cheap, and there's a price tag attached: £2,999 for the 55-inch model, and £3,499 for the 65-inch version (a notable mark-up from the OLED 803's £1,999 and £2,999 sets). But it’s t...
