In our experience, 2-in-1 laptops tend to spend most of the time in one configuration or the other. The convertible aspect is diminished when the computer is primarily used as a laptop. The updated Dell 2-in-1 Inspiron, however, does such a fine job as both laptop and tablet, we found myself switching between modes all the time. Still, we used the Inspiron 13-7000 series more often as a laptop, but its size and weight make the tablet mode a joy with leisurely applications. Having a laptop that doubles as a tablet has become increasingly attractive, especially as the 2-in-1 laptop market has become more affordable. With the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1, affordability is the name of the game. Even the entry-level model, which is what we have been testing, has enough processing power for most users.  With upgrade options, and prices that are still below those of the Lenovo Yoga 920 or the Microsoft Surface Book 2 , the Inspiron 2-in-1 laptop is worthy of your albeit careful consideration.  Keep in mind, there are some corners cut when lowering the price of any product. Asus has used MWC 2018 to reveal the new Zenfone 5 (not that one from 2014 ) to the world with a new design we haven't seen on any of the company's devices before. It features an edge-to-edge display with an iPhone X -like notch at the top, and the elephant in the room is how much this looks like Apple's top-end handset. That doesn't mean it's not a beautiful looking device though, and with generally high-end specs it looks like the Asus Zenfone 5 - along with the Asus Zenfone 5Z - may be one of the stand out devices of this year's top mobile phone show. Asus Zenfone 5 price and release date You won't be able to buy this phone any time soon. For some reason, Asus has announced this at MWC 2018 but it won't be on shelves until April for the Zenfone 5 and June for the Zenfone 5Z. British smartphone manufacturer STK has been in the smartphone game since 2011, but it's yet to become a household name. However, with the introduction of the STK X2 at MWC 2018 , it's looking to change that. The STK X2 is the most expensive smartphone it's produced, but don't worry about parting with a lot of cash - this is still a distinctly budget device. You get a reasonably standard array of features on the X2 for the price, but with the added bonus of 24/7, 365 days a year live text chat support direct on your device the firm has a potentially appealing USP. STK X2 price and availability The STK X2 price is £279.99 (around $340, AU$440), making it the firm's priciest smartphone to date, but it still just about slips into the affordable bracket. There’s a difference between things being budget or a great value in that the former isn’t necessarily good quality while the latter means you might be paying a bit more money for something that boasts great quality. Such is the case for Alienware’s most recent update to its Aurora gaming desktop. At $2,904 (£2,569, AU$3,749) for our review config, the Alienware Aurora R7 is not exactly the most affordable in the market. But with features like a killer, 6-core Intel Core processor, a high-end GPU that boasts frame buffer power, a plethora of ports that will let you establish your own little gaming village, and its tool-less design makes upgrading easy as playing with Legos, this rig definitely offers great value. This is the first time we’re reviewing a Vernee smartphone on TechRadar Pro. The Chinese mobile manufacturer may be one of the smaller players, but it’s a big fish in that particular pond, with a prominent presence at this year’s Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. The Active is Vernee’s flagship model and comes with some shockingly impressive hardware specifications – especially in this price bracket. Design The Vernee Active reminded us of an old favorite, the Motorola Razr M from 2012 . It has a curved front screen that rises above the protective bumper by a fraction of a millimeter, and is actually curvier at the back, giving the illusion that it’s thinner than it really is. Samsung DeX, the brand’s dock to turn your phone into a PC environment has been rebooted, to encourage more people to do more things with their new Galaxy S9 . The main change is to the design of the dock - it’s not actually a proper dock any more, rather a pad that clips the phone into, allowing you to connect up a monitor, keyboard and mouse and access a PC-like environment from within your phone. It brings with it the ability to use the phone as a touchpad and a keyboard, and will offer backwards compatibility to the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and the Note 8. Google Clips is a camera, but that’s underselling it a bit. It’s a smart camera that utilizes an eerily good machine learning algorithm to identify, then auto-record scenes containing familiar faces, pets and more. Similar to a normal point-and-shoot, you turn on Clips when you want to use it. There’s a shutter button, too, which you can press to capture seven seconds of still photos encoded in a shareable video file. But to fully take advantage of Clips is to let it run on auto-pilot. At its best, Clips catches the moments that you aren’t prepared for, ones that you can’t react quickly enough to capture. We all know the feeling of having just missed out on the perfect photo or video – this camera aims to put an end to that issue.
